Welcome back to Pre-school. I hope you all had a nice break and enjoyed the very spring like weather.
Focus for this half term: As we celebrate World Book Day this week, we will be sharing lots of stories and rhymes and enjoying different activities related to them. Your child is welcome to bring in a favourite story or non-fiction book from home on any day this week and we will share it with the group. Please just ensure that it is named! Our focus story for the next few weeks is going to be the Smeds and the Smoos by Julia Donaldson. Related to this story, we will be designing our own aliens and rockets and exploring green slime! We will also be mixing colours to see what new ones we can make. As we move into spring, we are also going to learn about all the new growth and changes related to the season, looking closely at spring flowers. We will once again be taking part in a big group art project using lots of different tools and paint to make a spring flower painting. We will be learning lots of new spring songs and naming farm animals and their young. We will also be planting seeds in our new planters. Lots to fit into 5 weeks!
World Book Day: We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March. If your child attends on this day, they can come to Pre-school dressed up as a favourite book character if they wish to and they will be taking part in lots of different activities to encourage their interest in books and stories.
Weather: Could you please make sure that your child brings a warm coat, hat and gloves to Pre-school. We do try and get outside in all weathers and hopefully will be spending much more time outside as spring approaches.
Summer Term Sessions: We are filling up rapidly and are almost full in the summer term. As children who are already in Pre-school get priority on sessions, could you please let me know by Friday March 10th if you wish to add to or change your child’s sessions around after Easter, if you haven’t already. Thank you.
30 hour funding codes: There were some issues with the 30 hour codes last term so could I just remind you that if you access this type of funding please do not let these codes lapse. If you confirm your status when asked to, in readiness for the summer term funding, all should run smoothly. Caroline Bickerton Pre-school Manager
