Newsletter November 2019
Welcome back to Pre-school after the half term break and to a very busy few weeks ahead! I would like to welcome Olivia, Zac and their families to Pre-school this week as well as Mrs Laura Kenny who will be joining the staff team this week as she looks to gain experience to help her with level 3 training.
Focus for this half term: This week we will be exploring lots of bonfire and firework activities. We will use lots of colourful, shiny and bright resources to make firework collages, use pencils to practise our early writing skills as we follow firework patterns and also make shape rockets. We will also be looking at different sources of heat and how we can stay safe on bonfire night. As November progresses our older group of children will be starting to practise their Nativity Play, to be performed on the 13th December, and all of the children will be learning lots of new songs associated with it as well as learning all about the Nativity story. As December approaches we will be making lots of different Christmas crafts and having great fun with glue and glitter. We will be holding a Christmas Party for all the children on Friday December 20th December from 10-12 in Pre-school. Children who normally attend on that day will start at 8.55 as normal. More details to follow about all the Christmas celebrations later in the term.
Boogie Beats: This half term Mr Sean Worth, who did some work experience with us last term, will be introducing a ‘Boogie Beat’ music and movement session to the children each Friday afternoon. He has already done a trial session with us and the children loved it! Pre-school is covering the cost of this session for the rest of this term as it is a new venture and we want to trial it first. If it’s a success, as we think it will be, then from January there would be a small charge for each child attending, similar to how our Fizzy Totz sessions run.
Nativity Play: All our older children, those going to school in September next year, will be invited to take part in this year’s Nativity Play ‘Mary’s Knitting’, on Friday 13th December at 9.20 am, in Pre-school. Pre-school will be closed for younger children on this morning.
Family tree: We still need some of the children’s family photographs for our display. The children really enjoy looking at this display and finding themselves so if you could all please bring some photographs in? Up to 4 would be fine. It also helps us as we use it to recognise extended family if they collect your child.
Dates for the diary:
