Newsletter January 2020
Welcome back to Pre-school. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Can I just take this opportunity to congratulate all the children who took part in our Nativity play last term, they all did brilliantly and we were very proud of them! Can I also thank you for the lovely gifts we got from the children. They are always very much appreciated.
I would like to welcome Evie, Fred, Zoe and their families to Pre-school this term.
Focus for this half term: As well as looking at all aspects of the winter season, including exploring real snow if we get any, we will also be learning all about different kinds of birds over the next few weeks. We will once again be joining in with the RSPB great garden birdwatch at the end of January and we will also be making bird feeders to bring home. We will be learning names of birds and looking at birds that live in snowy conditions and those that like to come out at night. Focus stories will be, ‘Penguin Pete,’ ‘Owl Babies,’ ‘Rosie’s Walk,’ ‘Little Ren Hen,’ and ‘Robin’s Winter Song.’ We will be using our binoculars to identify and count birds on our school field and each child will also be bringing home a simple bird identifier tick sheet so that they can look for birds in their own gardens or in the park with yourselves and record what they see.
Website: Each week I will be putting the planning linking to these themes on to our website and you will also get it emailed to you. You can find our website at https://bollinbrookpreschool.org/ .
Next Steps: In a couple of weeks’ time, when the children have settled into or back into the Pre-school routine, I will be sending out letters with a short form asking for your input into their next steps. We like to know what your child is interested in and enjoys at home and if there is anything specific you would like us to help your child with in Pre-school. We operate an ‘open door’ policy at Pre-school so you are also more than welcome to have a chat with your child’s key person or myself at any time if you wish too, though sometimes it’s easier to make an appointment if you need more time.
Weather: Could you please make sure that your child brings a warm coat, hat and gloves to Pre-school. We do try and get outside in all weathers!
School starters September 2020: If your child is due to start primary school this September please ensure you have applied for their place at your chosen school by the 15th January. Go online at www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/schooladmissions to apply. If you do not have web access call 0300 123 5012 for more information.
